About This Dog for Adoption
Oscar's ideal home
Oscar is a one-and-a-half-year-old Pomeranian with a big personality tucked inside his little frame. He is looking for a patient and understanding home where he can feel safe and blossom at his own pace. Oscar will need an adult-only home or one with children aged 16 years and up. He has been around older children before, but never unsupervised, so it is best that his adopters can give him the calm, consistent environment he needs.
Oscar can feel unsure of new people and close handling at first, but once he has had time to build a bond, his affectionate and playful nature soon shines through. He would suit owners who are happy to go at his pace, giving him space when he asks for it and celebrating his lovely moments of trust when he comes forward for fuss and attention. Oscar could potentially live with another calm dog, but it is not essential for him, as long as he has plenty of doggy friends to meet on his walks. He has not lived with cats.
Oscar is crate trained and enjoys getting out and about for walks where he can explore and have a good sniff around. Once settled in his new home, his adopters will need to build up his time alone gradually, as he is not yet used to being left for long periods.
Could you be Oscar's perfect match?
Once Oscar feels settled and safe, he is a sweet, loving little companion who enjoys attention, tasty treats, and the company of calm doggy friends. He has been showing his affectionate side to staff he now knows well, happily pawing at their hands or nudging in for fuss.
Oscar is curious and loves exploring new places, especially when there are tennis balls to chase or toys to play with (even if he does not always bring them back!). He knows basic cues like sit, down, and paw, and takes his treats gently. Although he can be wary of close handling, with time and patience he becomes much more comfortable and trusting.
Oscar has an ongoing medical condition, but do not let that put you off – our team will happily talk you through it and make sure you feel confident about his care.
He has been friendly towards visitors, enjoys group walks with other dogs at the centre, and is relaxed around calm dogs when out and about. While he sometimes needs a helping hand into higher vehicles, he travels quietly once inside and is a great little companion for outings.
If you are looking for a small but spirited friend who will reward your patience with affection, fun, and plenty of character, then Oscar might just be the boy for you.
