Elton's ideal home
Elton is a 3-year-old boy looking for a patient and loving home where he can blossom in confidence. He can be shy when meeting new people and prefers a calm, gentle approach, so he will need adopters who are happy to let him build trust at his own pace. Elton is a low-energy lad who would love a couple of short walks each day before heading home to relax on the sofa and cuddle up with his favourite human. Once he knows you, his affectionate side really shines through, and he becomes the biggest cuddle bug who loves nothing more than sitting on your lap and having a fuss! He could live with older secondary school-aged children who are dog-savvy and understand when he needs a little space. Elton can also be left for a few hours once he has settled into his new home.

Elton can find the world a little scary, particularly when meeting other dogs, and he can be reactive when feeling worried. He can walk near other dogs but will need ongoing, positive socialisation to help him grow in confidence. Due to his nervousness, Elton will need to be the only pet in the home. He can also find loud noises frightening and isn't currently housetrained, so a quiet home with a predictable routine and patient adopters will be important. His new family will need to give him the time and understanding he needs to feel safe and show him that the world isn't such a scary place. The good news is that Elton loves chicken, which will be a great motivator when helping him learn new things and build positive associations. Elton will make a fantastic companion given some time, patience and love.
